Using dynamic prompts when connected to a Universe in Crystal Reports XI

The information in the article refers to
Crystal Reports XI

Applies to
Parameters
Dynamic prompts
Connect to universe

Synopsis
When connected to a BusinessObjects Universe, can you create a parameter that uses a dynamic prompt in Crystal Reports XI?

Solution
When connected to a Universe in Crystal Reports XI, you can create a parameter that uses a dynamic prompt but you must choose a list of values that exists in the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI environment. Once created, you can use the parameter in the record selection formula to filter the report's data.

Notes:
  • Because the data processing will be done in Crystal Reports, there may be performance issues when reporting from Universes with large amounts of data.
  • It is not possible to create a dynamic prompt driven parameter based on a command object or a Crystal report field when the report connects to a Universe.
